The Hoot occurrence is located 14 kilometres northeast of Aiken Lake and 101 kilometres almost due north of the community of Germansen Landing.

The area of the showing is underlain by massive to well bedded tuffaceous sandstones to siltstones of the Permian Lay Range assemblage. A small amount of malachite staining is associated with an area of extensive shearing. The rocks are locally very siliceous. In 1992, a sample taken for analysis yielded 2.61 per cent copper and anomalous gold and silver values (Open File 1993-2, Map Number 43).

Work History

In 2014 and 2015, U. Mowat completed programs of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the Star property.
